All You Need Is (a Team) Love(in)!

A shorter week this week but still lots to love here at JB Towers. Mark has thoroughly enjoyed his time in the London office, but as he prepares to return to our Ipswich office he can’t help but wonder when the Olympics will start to build a little more excitement?

Rob is simply delighted to have a shower again following some DIY in the bathroom. Abbie has been in the same boat coincidentally, despite a neighbours entirely altruistic offer to use theirs.
Victoria is almost ready to depart for Sweden and has loved the support from the team as she prepares to head off. Skål from all of us, V! Andrew is lovin’ his planned trip to Wembley this weekend – Chelsea vs Tottenham – while Snehal and Derek are lovin’ 2 and 1-day weeks respectively! Snehal extended her Easter Weekend to visit Rome and may have had just a little too much coffee… coffee… COFFEE!

And Danny has a new addition to the family – Chico Martinez. Apparently these mini lop eared rabbits sell like hot cakes, but I’m assured that with rabbits being rabbits there’s always a fresh supply round the corner! Cheeky Chico enjoys watching Ray Mears on the telly with his new family and tackling the adventure playground Danny’s built for him.

For me, this week I’ve loved visiting The Cavern in Liverpool for a quick pint with Rob following a meeting. I love The Beatles and the visit reminded me how small creative teams can be so agile, changing direction quickly and adapting to new challenges. A small group really can achieve big things after all.

The ultimate onboarding exercise

Just how far would you go to get a better understanding of your target audience? For myself and Rob last week the answer was around 2,098 miles as we boarded the MS Boudicca courtesy of our client, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines. We’re working with Fred. Olsen to improve their Cruise Line website, focussing on the site architecture and…

If you live in Doncaster the answer is a definite yes. A 900 year old administrative error has come to light revealing that the Yorkshire town is in fact part of Scotland. Seems Henry II had a legal team that were perhaps a tad sloppy. Throw in marauding Scottish King David, the Treaty of Durham…

How To Get The Elephant Into The Room

There’s one thing in our industry we should never overlook. I’m talking about the obvious. Because everything we do is geared toward taking an often complex series of ideas or messages and distilling them down to a pinpoint of absolute and undeniable clarity. So people just get it. Straight away. We’ll surprise and delight our…

It wasn’t until I volunteered to help the Graeme Robertson Trust a few years ago that I realised how tough things really are for design graduates these days. Graeme Robertson was an inspirational figure in Direct Marketing and a mentor to many of today’s leading lights in the industry. The Trust celebrates his memory by…

Did you know the creative community is at war? It’s a very civilised affair of course, a war fought over skinny lattes in well appointed coffee houses. But it’s a war none the less. You see, many leading and experienced creatives feel the industry has become a little bland. They consider contemporary advertising lacking in…

It’s that time of year when most of us break from the day to day for a while. A sunny August afternoon and a little time off with the kids found me wandering the orchards of a local farm earlier this week… In no time the girls had picked a carrier bag full of ripe,…

Feelings ran high as our creative team (pictured) took on the accounts team in all out bowling war! But you already know the result… The Jacob Bailey creative team out bowled (and out drank) the competition in a tour de force that saw Rob and co. running for the hills. As pin after pin fell…
